Essque Zalu: The “dolce vita,” African style


This brand-new resort, just a 50-minute drive from the airport, was designed by Verona architect David Rosa, one of four Italians who share a passion for Zanzibar. This Mediterranean influence tempers the location’s exotic feel, offering 40 spacious, relaxing suites and nine villas spread out over nearly 10 acres of luxurious gardens.

The modern architecture is a tribute to natural materials, from wooden floors to thatched roofs. African and European artwork and furnishings happily coexist against the clear blue backdrop of the ocean. In addition to the beach’s many charms, a 450 m² spa, equipped with six massage rooms and a Vichy shower, is sure to calm and rejuvenate.
